Dhola was one of those dogs that had a lasting impression on me. His beautiful, snow-like fur matched his name, which means "white" in Bengali. Dhola was family, not just a nice puppy.

It all began when my grandpa took Dhola in as an adoptive child from a national exile. Dhola was a vital part of our life from the minute he came. He served as our protection in addition to being a pet. Dhola was our constant house guardian and possessed a remarkable sense of devotion and intellect.

Dhola's protective nature really came out one night. A burglar tried to scale our fence, not realizing what was in store for him. Dhola caught him within minutes of his arrival and began barking ferociously. His prompt actions allowed us to race outdoors and apprehend the robber before he could escape. Dhola came to the rescue, and we would often tell proud stories about his courage.

But Dhola was more than simply a watchdog—he was a multifaceted combatant. I will always remember the day he became very ill from canine influenza. He started to have trouble breathing, and it seemed like we would lose him. With a great deal of love and devotion, Dhola survived the ordeal that my grandfather and I gave him. We were all in awe of his power, and I was really happy to spend more time with him.

Unfortunately, everyone eventually ages, including our cherished pets. Dhola had nine years of a long and happy life, so when he finally died of old age, we were all quite saddened. The one who wept the most was my grandfather, who had discovered and taken him in all those years ago. Dhola was now much more than simply a dog; he was a cherished family member, a friend, and a protector.

Every day I still miss him. There are times when I wish I could see him again, feel his soft hair beneath my hands, and hear his guard dog bark once again. Nevertheless, Dhola's legacy endures, and I will always treasure the moments we had.

Even if Dhola isn't physically present, he is always watching over our house in my heart.
